UPS established the Eco Responsible Packaging Program for customers who are committed to sustainable packaging. Companies participating in this program allow UPS to conduct an evaluation of packaging processes. These companies must meet criteria in three areas—damage prevention, right sizing, and materials content—to participate in the program. In order to participate in the Eco Responsible Packaging Program, the sustainability of shipment packaging processes will be evaluated in three areas: Damage prevention: Do the items arrive intact? Right sizing: Are the shipping containers no larger than necessary? Materials content: What is the environmental impact of the chosen materials? Note: Evaluation of product manufacturer's packaging isn't included as part of this program. UPS examines the transportation (secondary) packaging that you use for shipping.
